Defined as :
The variety of plant and animal life in a particular habitat.
Generally the wider the variety of long term successful organisms the better.

Bushcare / Landcare / Wildlife groups

"Bushcare" groups number in the 100's nation wide. Manned by like-minded volunteers from many different backgrounds who have teamed up to protect and/or regenerate natural ecosystems.

Catchment Area

Defined as :
A natural rainfall collection and drainage area which feeds a creek, groundwater system, lake, ocean, river or wetland.

Ecology

Defined as :
The interaction between organisms and their habitat ie: Ecological interaction within a specific habitat.

Energy

Defined as :
Power derived from physical or chemical resources converted principally to light, heat or motive effort.
Most commonly ( eighty odd percent here in Aus ) involves burning fossil fuels, hydro is about 7% with solar and wind generation now counted as significant energy sources.
Technological advancement has led to more efficient use of available power ( eg: heat pumps, Lithium-ion batteries, LED lighting ). Some older technologies will be with us for some time yet, eg: lead-acid ( car and truck ) batteries and alkaline dry cell batteries ( Energizer and Duracell ).
